CIL 18 - 学会の模様、その2

7月21日から26日にかけて開催された国際言語学者会議、CIL 18。
会場は広いキャンパスが印象的な高麗大学（Korea Univ.）でした。

初日は午前中に参加登録などを済ませて配布物を受け取りました。
ちなみに学会参加費は、事前登録した場合米ドルで$60（学生$15）、
当日会場で登録した場合は$80（学生$20）でした。
また、配布物は大会ハンドブック1冊と分厚い発表要旨集が2冊、
それに名札や筆記用具を大会ロゴ入りの鞄に納めた一式で、
さすが国際的な学会とはずいぶん豪華なものだと関心しました。

その後10時からIncheon Memorial Hallで行われた開会式に出席。
間に昼休みを挟んで二つの特別講演を聴講した後、
15時からは別会場で個別の研究発表を聞いて回りました。

発表は全日程を通じてパラレル・セッション形式で行われ、
トピック別のセッションと一般セッションがありました。
要旨集に掲載されていたトピックは以下の通りです。

1. Language, mind and brain
2. Information structure
3. Language policy
4. Intercultural pragmatics, language and society
5. Historical and comparative linguistics
6. Phonetics and phonology
7. Lexical semantics
8. Tense, aspect and modality
9. Computational linguistics
10. Syntax

各自の持ち時間は発表20分、質疑応答10分の合計30分。
多くの発表者がPowerPointなどのスライドを使用し、
手元用資料としてレジュメやペーパーを配布していました。
発表言語はほとんどの場合英語でしたが、
少数ながらドイツ語やフランス語での発表もありました。

さらに夕食後には様々なワークショップが開催され、
昼間のセッションと同じ要領で多くの発表が行われました。
要旨集に掲載されたワークショップのテーマは以下の通り。
なお、開催予定だったFeatures of translation universalsは、
キャンセルされたらしく、要旨集に掲載されていませんでした。

まさに言語学漬けの一日でくたくたになってしまいましたが、
興味深い講演や発表を聞き、実に多くの刺激を受けました。
